In a circular issued few days back, Environmental Ministry has exempted building of large industrial sheds, schools, colleges and hotels of up to 1,50,000 sq.m. construction from seeking prior green nod for construction.
Earlier the rule held that the building a factory is tantamount to undertaking a construction project and stipulated a prior environmental clearance for any such building with a built-up area of over 20,000 sq.m.
The ministry has also called for such new building to be equipped with environmental management systems such as rainwater harvesting, solid & liquid waste management.
The new norms also suggested use of fly ash bricks for building new factories.
